The total number of work opportunities created for the financial year were 43 230, up from 40 600 for the previous 12 months. 

‘These results show that the City is doing well to maximise the potential of this national government programme to improve service delivery for residents, and provide income support to those who are struggling to find work,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.

‘In recent years the number of beneficiaries has increased and more of them are being provided with diverse opportunities to develop skills that will help them into the job market. Notable projects from the past year that have helped to transfer skills to beneficiaries include the Kader Asmal Skills Development Programme and Informal Trading Compliance Officers,’ Alderman Twigg continued.

Please bring a copy of your CV, your ID or a valid South African work permit. 

2. It is free. The City will not ask community members to pay for work opportunities
or pay to apply for a work opportunity.
